Eastern Sierra Land Trust

Eastern Sierra Land Trust

People treasure the Eastern Sierra Nevada region of California for many reasons - the awesome vistas, the working ranches and wide open spaces, the diverse wildlife and plant life - which inspire them to want to protect these values for future generations. The Eastern Sierra Land Trust recognizes that the land we share has long been used in a variety of ways. Our goal is to encourage the continuation of those uses - from ranching to biking, wildlife habitats to favorite fishing spots - in a healthy balance that can be maintained for generations to come. A balance of land uses will ensure a strong local economy and a healthy local environment.

Feather River Land Trust

Feather River Land Trust Virtually anywhere you look in the West, you'll find something from the Feather River region. Its many rivers and streams power hydroelectric plants and provide water to 60% of California's population. Its grasslands and ranches have fed generations of Westerners. And its timber has been used to build the West's great cities. Protecting and restoring our intimate connection to this land and its wildlife, beauty and history is what the Feather River Land Trust is all about. We want to ensure that this place and the experiences it engenders lives on.

Sequoia Riverlands Trust

Sequoia RiverlandsTrust

The Sequoia Riverlands Trust (SRT) is a community-based conservation organization, comprised of residents and partners who care about the southern Sierra Nevada and San Joaquin Valley. We strive to live in a community where natural richness compliments agricultural richness; where economic prosperity co-exists with scenic, open vistas, improving the quality of life for all. Building on the solid foundation created by our community, our board, staff and advisors include respected members of the agricultural, business, planning, education and scientific communities.

The Sequoia Riverlands Trust, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was established in November 2000 as the Sierra Los Tulares Land Trust. The formation of SRT resulted from a decision to strengthen local conservation efforts by merging three Tulare County organizations: the Four Creeks (Visalia), Kaweah (Three Rivers), and Tule Oaks (Springville/Porterville) land trusts. These groups are now chapters of SRT.

We cooperate with individual, business, non-profit and agency partners to accomplish our mission. In April 2001, we formed a partnership with The Nature Conservancy to jointly identify and achieve key conservation goals in Tulare County. The Nature Conservancy acts as a consultant to SRT by providing scientific expertise, assisting with on-the-ground conservation projects and working closely with us on fundraising efforts.

Truckee Donner Land Trust

Truckee Donner Land Trust

When the beautiful Coldstream Valley near Donner Lake was about to be lost to logging in 1990, a small group of passionate hikers founded the Truckee Donner Land Trust, raising $150,000 to purchase 160 acres in the Valley.

Today, our mountains, canyons and rivers that make the Truckee Donner region a great place to live, work, and play, continue to face threats from unwise growth and development, spilling over onto our treasured natural areas.

In the past 15 years, we have protected over 11,000 acres. We have accomplished this by working with landowners, government agencies and like-minded conservation organizations. We create win-win solutions for the public and property owners that ensure continued recreational access and protect our lands for future generations. We are determined to protect over 35,000 acres in the coming years.

We're in a race against unprecedented growth in our region, but with support from our neighbors, members, and partners, we can protect what we love, forever, before it's too late.

California Rangeland Trust

California Rangeland Trust

The California Rangeland Trust is governed entirely by ranchers – men and women who understand the importance and challenges of maintaining working landscapes.

The Rangeland Trust works closely with rangeland owners to protect and enhance the environmental and economic benefits that these working landscapes provide.

In addition to drawing on the expertise of its Board of Directors, the Rangeland Trust has relationships with advisors from private industry, the University of California, government agencies and other land trusts. Our greatest advantage is that landowners have the confidence that the Rangeland Trust understands their concerns and will work with them to effectively protect and improve the environmental quality of their ranches and the economic stability of their ranching operations.

Trust for Public Land

Trust for Public LandUnderlying TPL's ambitious Sierra Nevada Program is our desire to protect the intrinsic yet intangible value of the Sierra as we know it. Our principal methodology for achieving these region-wide conservation goals is via the identification and protection of critical landscapes by means of fee acquisition, conservation easements, and other strategies. In cooperation with public agencies, nonprofit organizations, landowners, and foundation partners, TPL is working to halt the deterioration of the Sierra Nevada's unique natural communities. In doing this we are protecting the rural character and sense of wildness that make the range an incomparable treasure in the American landscape.
