Shasta Land Trust, founded in 1998, is dedicated to conserving open space, wildlife habitat, and agricultural land. The Trust’s current areas of focus are the Cow Creek and surrounding watersheds in the foothills east of Redding to the pine belt of the Cascades. Shasta Land Trust receives funding largely through membership dues and donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations.
Shasta Land Trust works to achieve the following:
- protection of land that has natural, recreational, scenic, historic, or productive value.
- protection of land permanently and directly. Shasta Land Trust accepts donations of properties, buys land, or helps land owners establish legal restrictions that limit future uses.
- promotion of conservation efforts, working with both private parties and government agencies.
