Strategies and Goals Summary

LAND: SCLTC members will develop the financial resources to protect and manage an additional 200,000 acres in the region for conservation, cultural, recreational, open space and production purposes in the next five years.

CAPACITY: SCLTC will build the capacity of member land trusts by promoting greater collaboration, networking and use of best management practices to ensure effective, sustained conservation work in the region.

POLICY: SCLTC will provide a unified voice for the region's land trust community with elected and appointed officials, decision-makers and funders.

LAND: SCLTC members will develop the financial resources to protect and manage an additional 200,000 acres in the region for conservation, cultural, recreational, open space and production purposes in the next five years.

Goal 1: SCLTC will develop a campaign to significantly increase the level of public funding available for land protection and stewardship in the region to at least $260 million total over the next five years.

Goal 2: SCLTC members will significantly increase the level of private funding available for land protection and stewardship in the Sierra-Cascade region to at least $110 million total over the next five years.

CAPACITY: SCLTC will build the capacity of member land trusts by promoting greater collaboration, networking and use of best management practices to ensure effective, sustained conservation work in the region.

Goal 3: All member land trusts will demonstrate strong and effective operational procedures and infrastructure (including legal, financial, administrative), engendering more investment and sustainable conservation in the region.

Goal 4: A strong networking system that will encourage the free exchange of ideas, templates, skills, case studies, maps and other information among land trusts and conservancies in the region.

POLICY: SCLTC will provide a unified voice for the region's land trust community with elected and appointed officials, decision-makers and funders.

Goal 5: SCLTC members will work with elected and appointed officials, decision-makers, and funders to address policy issues to support promotion and preservation of natural, cultural and recreational resources, open space, and working landscapes in the region.
